At the Arts and Spirituality Center, located at Emmanuel Church, we believe there is a connection between the arts and spirituality, and we welcome all people regardless of beliefs, creed or religious affiliation to explore this connection with us. Creativity is a God-centered activity, and when we engage in it we open a space for spirituality. Our arts and spirituality center will offer opportunities to deepen our spiritual lives through artistic expression and through spiritual practices from a variety of traditions. We think there is one God who seeks to awaken our spirits and calls us to co-create. As the work of creation and spiritual deepening continues at the center, we look forward to opening our doors to the larger Richmond community and to learning and growing together.

The are two worship services at Emmanuel that may be of special interest to Arts and Spirituality participants. When the Center closes on Tuesday night, there will be a brief service of Compline in the nave of the church at 8:30pm. This service comes from the monastic tradition of prayers offered before bed and is a beautiful, peaceful way to end the day. Also, every third Sunday at 5:30 is the soothing music and silences of our Contemplative Eucharist, which promotes stillness and centering.
